As many of you already know, fall is my most favorite time of year. It’s a new season and it leads up to the most magical time of the year, Christmas. Also a time for making some of the best memories with loved ones.
On top of all of the activities, you can do this season, the decor possibilities are endless. One of my secret passions is and always has been interior decor. Out of high school, I entertained the thought about going into Interior Design, but other things fell into place to go in a different direction for that time in my life. However, in my spare time, I have absorbed as much as I can to learn about decorating our living spaces. I believe these spaces should reflect our personalities and have a welcoming and comforting feel to them. Homes are meant to be lived in not a museum.
I want to share with you some of my favorite things to decorate with for the fall season and I will share at the end some of my all-time favorite accounts I follow for great inspiration.
The farmhouse chic style is in right now and I do love the looks but I live in a log home so it’s a little harder to get that look. But with the farmhouse look, I believe that rustic is also a popular style now too. You can also use many of the same things with these two styles.
- 1)Buffalo Plaid Everything…..let’s face it already. Buffalo plaid is a favorite of everyone’s, whether it’s black, red, orange, gray, etc. The possibilities are endless.
- 2)A neutral color wreath. Neutrals seem to really be in now and work perfectly with any decor scheme.
- 3) Your favorite color pumpkins. Again, the possibilities are endless because you can use any color or dimension that you want. This year I have seen velvet pumpkins, fabric pumpkins, and pumpkins made from chenille and old shirts. It’s really up to you.
- 4)Fall pillows. You can find these anywhere. From Dollar General to Kohls to Target.
- 5)Neutral or Autumn color throws. As the seasons are changing and temperatures are beginning to drop, you always need a handy throw.
- 6)An Autumn mat. There are a lot of really cute ones out there.
- 7)A wooden, blanket ladder. These too seem to be really popular. You can either make one yourself or if you are going to be at a Vintage Market, there are usually vendors out there that have them.
Some of my favorite accounts to follow are: 1) Erin@cottonstem; 2) Julie and Jodie @thedesigntwinsblog; 3) Janna @yellowprairieinteriors
I hope that I have encouraged you a little to decorate you home a little for fall. Remember to make it fun and everyone’s style is different, so there is no wrong way.
Happy Fall!!! Amanda
