Those of you that have been with us for a while now, know my love of finding crafts to make from supplies bought at the Dollar Tree. And Christmas never fails!!
Our Dollar Tree Christmas tree makeover is pretty simple and doesn’t take a lot to make but oh how cute it turns out.
Supplies Needed
- 2-2ft Christmas trees
- 2 silver buckets from the garden area
- can of snow for flocking
- spray paint, color of choice (I bought mine at Hobby Lobby for 50% off, in rubbed bronze)
- ribbon of choice
- hot glue gun
- square styrofoam for tree
- cotton for base of tree
To start our Dollar Tree Christmas tree makeover, let’s go outside and paint our silver buckets. If you can’t find the silver buckets, you can really use any kind of inexpensive planter and spray paint it. Make sure it is completely dry before taking them in. Or, if you are in an area with nice weather, you could always do this craft outside.
Now that the silver buckets are dry, we can get these finished up…woohoo!! I cannot wait for you to try this craft.
Take the ribbon that you chose to use, and cut a piece long enough to wrap around each bucket. Carefully glue the ribbon around the top of each bucket.
I just happened to have a long piece of floral styrofoam on hand, all I did was cut it in half and place them in the bottom of each bucket. This is to stick the tree into. The Dollar Tree sells styrofoam too…nice, right?
We can now take our trees and spread out the limbs. For the next step, gently press the tree down into the styrofoam to make an indention. Pull the tree back out.
In this next part, you will either want to do it outside or place old newspaper down, so we don’t make a mess…lol! Now that the trees are spread out, we can spray them with our snow, yayyyy!!! I sprayed my trees with a lot of snow.
Finishing our Dollar Tree Christmas Tree Makeover
Place a little bit of glue into the indention in the styrofoam and press the tree down into it. hold it for just a minute or two, because it won’t take the hot glue to dry.
For the final step, I took a little bit of cotton I use for stuffing, or you could use the cotton snow/filler they sell this time of year and placed it over the base of the tree so that you can’t see the stem of the tree.
I truly do love how this project turned out!!!
Thank you for joining me on this fun craft. I hope I have inspired you to make some of your decorations this Christmas!
Blessings always and Merry Christmas!!!
